Both children were born whilst Katherine was held prisoner at Tower of London.
Both were later deemed illegitimate, following a Privy Council ruling in Feb 1562, where their parents' marriage was deemed invalid (due to lack of reading of banns and witnesses).
Also felt by some that marriage part of a conspiracy against Elizabeth I due to Katherine's
place in the line in of succession.
